When We May Recommend Something Else

For fewer than 24 pieces, highly detailed full-color artwork, or individual names and numbers, a heat-applied transfer may be more economical. Tell us what you need and we'll recommend the method that produces the best result — not automatically the most expensive one.

What Determines Screen Printing Cost?

Short answer: screen printing cost depends on the garment, quantity, ink colors, print locations, garment color and artwork condition — not a single flat rate. Request a quote for an exact number based on your order.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does screen printing cost in Rhode Island?
Cost depends on the garment, quantity, ink colors and print locations — there's no single flat rate. See the cost factors above, or request a quote for an exact number based on your order.
What is the minimum order for screen printing?
24 pieces per design placement per run. That minimum keeps screen setup costs reasonable for both sides — see our full breakdown of why, and what to order instead for smaller runs.
How long does custom screen printing take?
Most screen printing orders are completed within two weeks of proof approval. Rush production may be available — call to check.
Is screen printing durable?
Yes — properly cured screen-printed ink bonds to the fabric and holds up to regular washing. Turning shirts inside out and avoiding high heat when washing or drying extends the print's life.
Can you screen print on dark shirts?
Yes — we print a white or light-colored ink underbase beneath the design so colors stay vibrant on navy, black and other dark garments.
What shirts are best for screen printing?
Smooth, flat-weave cotton or cotton/poly-blend tees give the cleanest, most vibrant results. Heavily textured fabrics can cause ink to sit unevenly, so we'll flag it if a garment isn't a great fit.
Is screen printing better than DTF?
It depends on the order — screen printing is usually more cost-effective for larger runs of a repeated design, while DTF/heat transfer suits smaller runs or highly detailed full-color artwork. We'll recommend whichever method fits your order best.
Is screen printing cheaper than embroidery?
For large quantities of a bold, simple design, screen printing is usually less expensive than embroidery. For polos, hats and smaller orders, embroidery is often the better value — see our decoration method guide for a full comparison.
Can I mix shirt sizes and garment colors?
Yes — most orders mix sizes freely, and many designs work across multiple garment colors as long as the ink colors are chosen to still show up well.
Can you print on the front, back and sleeves?
Yes — front, back and sleeve placements are all available. Each print location is priced separately since it requires its own screen setup and pass.
What artwork format do you need?
Vector files (.AI, .EPS or vector PDF) work best for clean color separation. We can also work from a PNG or JPG and rebuild the artwork if needed.
Do you offer rush screen printing?
Rush production may be available depending on our current schedule — call 401-434-9224 to check availability for your timeline.
Can I pick up my order in Rhode Island?
Yes — every order can be picked up at our East Providence shop, or we can ship it to you.
Do you ship to Massachusetts?
Yes — we ship anywhere in New England, including Southern Massachusetts, and regularly serve customers there.
Can I reorder the same design later?
Yes — we keep your artwork and screens on file, so reordering the same design later is usually faster and simpler than the first run.
